ISLAMABAD: Pakistanis angry over gas shortages have blocked a major highway and clashed with police for the second straight day.
The protest is adding to pressure on a government that is bogged down by scandal, near economic collapse and militant violence.
Hundreds of protesters on Tuesday hurled stones at police on the main highway linking the capital Islamabad to Rawalpindi. On Monday, angry Pakistanis torched three vehicles on the same road.
Natural gas is used widely in Pakistan for heating, cooking and to fuel cars and buses. It has been in short supply since winter began.
