Sufi Mohammad’s sons acuitted by Swat ATC

SWAT: An anti-terrorism court on Thursday acquitted three sons of Sufi Mohammad , the chief of Tehreek-e-Nafaz-e-Shariat-e-Mohammadi (TNSM) in a terrorism case, FTNews reported.
The ATC acquitted Abdullah, Abdur Rehman and Fazlullah during a hearing of the case.
The court, however, said that it would continue hearing of other cases against the three brothers. They were facing several cases of murder, terrorism and revolt.
The brothers were still languishing in jail.

PPP enjoys cordial alliance with MQM: Sindh CM

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah said that the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) was enjoying a ‘very good’ political alliance with the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) in the larger national interest.
“PPP has always adopted the policy of national reconciliation and it has been proved also by the MQM leadership through a 
recent rally in support of democracy,” he said while addressing a press conference at the Chief Minister House on Thursday.
Shah said that his party had no idea about the agenda of the former home minister Zulfiqar Mirza and added that the PPP had announced its disassociation with Mirza.
He further pointed out that Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Memon had been summoned by President Asif Ali Zardari to clarify his position and his visitto London.
“Whosoever would violate party discipline will have to face the consequences,” the chief minister said.
Shah said that MPA Imdad Pitafi’s membership of the PPP had also been suspended for violating party discipline.
He said that the party leadership was fully determined to foil any machination to destabilise the government.
The present coalition government will complete its full tenure, the chief minister remarked.
The chief minister was flanked by PPP ministers and office bearers.

Karachi under constant threat of terrorism: Wasan

KARACHI: Karachi remains constantly under the threat of terrorism and the police are playing a significant role in thwarting attacks, Sindh Home Minister Manzoor Hussain Wasan said.
“Policemen are doing their best and sacrificing their lives in the line of duty,” he said.
Wasan was speaking to media representatives after offering funeral prayers at Police Lines Garden for the two policemen who were killed in an encounter with alleged terrorists late on Wednesday night.
He said the police had successfully thwarted a major act of terrorism as the five alleged terrorists were well equipped and had a huge quantity of explosives.
Wasan said that on the lead from the registration plate number of the van, the police had managed to arrest two accused and a probe had been initiated against them.
He said the arrests had been made after raids in Hyderabad and later in Karachi.
