SHC serves SSGC with contempt notice

KARACHI: A division bench of Sindh High Court (SHC) here on Tuesday issued notice to Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) in a contempt of court application. In the contempt application, moved by All Pakistan CNG Association (APCNGA) Sindh Chapter, it was stated that SHC orders dated December 12, 2010 and January 1, 2011 in identical petitions against loadshedding of Sui Gas in Sindh has been flouted by the respondents including managing director and deputy managing director of SSGC by issuing gas management plan for CNG Stations in Sindh which will be implemented from December 29. Malik sees foreign hand in Karachi killings

LAHORE: Interior Minister Rehman Malik said that recent killings in Karachi were not a result of sectarian strife and that involvement of a foreign hand could not be ruled out. Fourteen killed as van catches fire near Taxila

TEXILA: Fourteen passengers, including women and children, burned to death while seven sustained injuries when a van caught fire after a blast in its gas cylinder near Taxila on Tuesday, FTNews reported. According to police, the van, travelling from Peshawar towards Islamabad, collided with a tree when the driver lost control due to a flat tyre. The collision caused an explosion in the gas cylinder of the van, resulting in its complete destruction.
