Begum Naseem Wali announces return to politics

KARACHI: Veteran politician Begum Naseem Wali Khan on Saturday announced her return to practical politics after an absence of around seven years, FTNews reported.

Speaking to FTNews, Awami National Party (ANP) founder Wali Khan’s widow said that she had served her party well. “I have so many services for ANP,” said Naseem.

Wali Khan’s widow said she had not quit practical politics but had been kept away from it.

She further said she had submitted an application to her party for contesting the Senate elections. “It is my right to get a party ticket for the Senate polls,” the ANP leader added.

Bomb diffused; suspect arrested in Khanpur

LAHORE: A bomb was diffused on Monday near Imam Bargah Hussainia in Khanpur, a suspect was also beaten up by people and then arrested by the Rangers, FTNews reported.

Khanpur was still plunging with chaos and fear on the second day of the attack on Chehlum procession which killed 21 on Sunday.

A bomb was found and diffused by the local authorities near the same Imam Bragah from which the procession for Chehlum Imam Hussain came out.

A suspect was also arrested by the Rangers who was firstly being caught and beaten up by the locals.

Two remote-controls were recovered from the suspect who was taken away to an undisclosed location by the Rangers.

Funeral prayer of the victims was to be offered near the Imam Bargah today.

Families of the victims were still protesting against the authorities outside local police station of the town.

CID arrests mastermind behind Sea View, Ghazi Shrine attacks

KARACHI: The Crime Investigation Department (CID) police on Saturday said they had arrested the suspected mastermind of a string of terrorist attacks in Karachi, FTNews reported.

According to Additional IG CID Ghulam Shabbir Sheikh, Mohammad Daud, the suspected mastermind behind the Sea View bomb blast and the attack on Abdullah Shah Ghazi Shrine, was arrested in possession of 50 kilograms of explosive material.

The suspect has revealed the names of three foreigners involved in the Sea View blast, including a woman who was killed in the blast, said Ghulam Shabbir Sheikh.

According to suspect, a Chechen couple, Abu Saleh and an Azerbaijani national were brought to Karachi from Quetta with a purpose to attack Abdullah Shah Ghazi Shrine.

One of their suicide vests blew off at Sea View, killing all three suicide attacker along with their local aids Shoaib and Atiq Swati.

The arrested suspect also brought two suicide bombers Badshah Khan and Abdullah from North Waziristan who attacked the Ghazi Shrine on October 7, 2010.

Earlier, CID arrested another two suspected militants of banned Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) from Shah Latif Town.

According to CID official Mazhar Mishwani, suspects were sent to target SSP CID Chaudhry Aslam. Five rockets, two 222-rifles and 55 bullets were recovered from the suspects, said Mishwani.
